Madame Web

Madame Web is a superhero movie related to Spider-Man. Unfortunately, it’s filled with bad dialogue, unclear motivations, and boring characters. Many viewers, including myself, were left feeling confused and disappointed.

Directed by: S.J. Clarkson

Written by: Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless

Story Overview

The movie follows Cassie Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan in the early 2000s, played by Dakota Johnson.

Cassie can see the future just moments before events happen. Her visions lead her to three young girls who are being hunted by a villain named Ezekial, played by Tahar Rahim.

Ezekial believes these girls will kill him, but the movie never explains why. Cassie becomes a protective figure, trying to save the girls from Ezekial.

Character Problems

Cassie is not very likable. She doesn’t react much to the strange events around her and ends up kidnapping the girls she’s supposed to protect.

Her actions make her almost as unlikable as the villain, Ezekial.

Madame Web

Villain Issues

Ezekial is a flat, one-dimensional bad guy whose only goal is to kill the girls. He lacks personality and isn’t very threatening.

His dialogue is sometimes hard to understand due to poor audio quality.

Weak Themes

The movie tries to explore themes like found family and taking responsibility. However, these themes are poorly done and feel half-hearted.

The plot is confusing, with events happening without clear reasons, making it hard to follow the story.

Conclusion

“Madame Web” is another disappointing superhero film from Sony. Despite the involvement of talented artists, the Madame Web  fails to deliver a clear and engaging story. The characters are unrelatable, and the plot is confusing.

I cannot recommend watching this film, even out of curiosity. Hopefully, Sony will improve their superhero movies in the future.
